ABOUT MIGORI COUNTY
Located along the shores of Lake Victoria, Migori is considered the second largest economic hub in the South Nyanza region. Endowed with major gold deposits, rivers that generate much of the region’s hydroelectric power, rich agricultural land, and vast historic sites such as Thim Lich Ohinga, the County has the most diverse economic opportunities in the region. While there have been a few agro-processing companies in the County such as South Nyanza Sugar Company and Sukari Sugar Company, manufacturing and value addition in production is still fallow in the County. The County also houses some of the leading education institutions, including Kanga High School, Rapogi High School, Ulanda Girls High School, Migori Teachers College, and Rongo University.
